Community Standards and University Operations
All members of the university community are expected to:
- Respect the rights of others.
- Follow applicable laws and university policies.
- Comply with time, place, and manner requirements.
- Avoid disrupting university operations.
- Follow directions during emergency situations.
The university may intervene when conduct violates university policy or the law, threatens safety, or significantly disrupts university operations.
No Events May Occur at George Mason That Disrupt University Operations
Please refer to George Mason's Guidance for Assessing When Behavior is Disruptive to University Operations for additional information on when an event or other activity has become disruptive to University operations, and therefore, may be determined to be in violation of University policy. The university will intervene to discontinue or prohibit the conduct that violates university policy (see below) or disrupts university operations.
Students and employees who violate any of the above restrictions will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with applicable university policies, the Student Code of Conduct, and Human Resources employment policies. Students, employees, and members of the public in violation of any of the above and/or Commonwealth of Virginia laws may be detained or arrested by law enforcement and/or trespassed from university property. Students are encouraged to reach out to University Life for guidance prior to an event ([email protected]). Members of the public should contact University Police at 703-993-2810 and University Events Management for assistance.
